Devils Backbone Brewing Co. Brewmaster Jason Oliver Talks 16 Point IPA

We spoke with Devils Backbone Brewing Co. Brewmaster Jason Oliver about 16 Point IPA.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
This beer has been an in-house collaborative effort. Josh French, our Production Brewmaster, and myself worked on this one to get it where it is today.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
I like the rich dank hops in this beer. It’s both a sipper and a drinker.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
The name for Sixteen Point IPA comes from the “Buck Scale” we use at DBBC. Sixteen Point is an Imperial IPA and our normal IPA is Eight Point. More points, more hops. It really has twice the hops as our year round IPA.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Deep gold with citrus, pine, dank, resinous, and fruity aromas.

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
This one comes from Aaron Reilly, our resident beer & food pairing expert – citrus glazed seared mahi mahi with mango salsa.
