Sixpoint Brewery Announces Beers Only Available Through Smartphone App

Sixpoint Brewery in Brooklyn, New York has announced the release of three new hazy, New-England-style brews. These special releases will only be available for purchase through the brewery's new Sixpoint smartphone app, which is available now. The beers will be available for release next week from the brewery only on April 14.

Posse, Undefined Variable and Hootie are all variants of hazy beers with Posse and Undefined clocking in as Double IPAs at 8 percent ABV. Hootie is a hazy American Pale Ale at 5.4 percent ABV.

This release is about TECH, baby. We brewed these IPAs to put the spotlight on Posse App Development, the awesome team that’s been working with us since 2012. Years back they created our Beerfinder, and now they’ve made these Small Batch releases a reality. Just a few taps and the beer is yours! Now pick-up day is just a party... you can thank Posse for that.

The team writing our code is having a showdown—David has roots in New Zealand and Luke hails from Australia. We’re pitting some of the most dynamic, tropical, exotic hops against each other for this epic release. Posse is all New Zealand, while Undefined Variable takes the same base beer and uses some killer Australian varieties. Buckle up!

As a reminder, these beers are only available through the Sixpoint App and pickup is at the brewery on 40 Van Dyke St in Brooklyn. The official release party is Saturday, 4/14 from 10am-4pm. If you can’t make it, we have alternate pickup windows (without the party) on 4/16 and 4/17, from 4pm-7pm.

POSSE
Style: NEIIPA w/ New Zealand Hops

Description: 

This beer was formulated and brewed with Posse App Development, the super dedicated and talented team who wrote every line of code for the app in your hand. For the beer we went with all New Zealand hops—David, one of the lead developers, has roots there. We featured Nelson Sauvin… ever tasted a beer with this hop? It’s the most coveted strain in the world right now. Known for unique notes of passionfruit and elderflowers common in Sauvignon Blanc (and grown in the same area as the grapes), it’s a tropical and stone fruit blast. No bullshit.

Style: NEIIPA w/ Australian Hops

Description: This beer is also a shout out to the Posse team. Luke, one of the Posse co-founders who has spent countless hours on our app, is from Australia. Vic Secret is the variable here. We’ve used Galaxy (you remember Party Hat) and Enigma—they have the classic “New World” characteristics that put Australia on the map, hops-wise. This is our first time releasing a can with Vic Secret… for us it’s undefined as of yet, but we have a good feeling about this one. Expect a huge blast of peach and passionfruit aroma.

Hootie
Style: Hazy APA w/ Idaho 7, El Dorado, and Amarillo Hops 
ABV: 5.4% 
Description: Hootie (formerly called Hootie-Hoo) is now a hazy pale ale that we’ll be making year-round. Brewed dry with expressive yeast, explosive aromatics, and an easy finish, this beer satisfies like an NEIPA but lets you come back for gulp after gulp. This beer will be on draft all year around NYC. Cans are still only available at the brewery during can releases and starting this summer we plan to have cans available for pick up during each release.
