What Your Beer Choice Says About Your Betting Style
Discover how your favorite beer choice reflects your betting style and explore the fun connections between craft brews and gambling habits, whether you’re a casual bettor or a high-stakes risk-taker.
While there’s no denying that beer and betting go hand in hand, we also know that there are many different types of beer drinkers and bettors. Whether you are out watching a game or at home using the best betting apps, it can be observed that the type of beer people drink can correlate with other behaviors.
This can lead us to wonder – does your beer preference say something about the way you bet? Of course, this is all fun speculation not to be taken too seriously, but there may be some truth to it as well!
Craft IPA Drinkers – The Sharp Bettor (Or Thinks They Are)
It’s hard to tell if this group is more advanced than us (their tastebuds and betting knowledge) or if they just think they are. One thing is for sure, they will let you know all about why their way is better. They also have a couple extra bucks per beer to spend, so the betting units are also higher than average.
Light Beer Drinkers – The Casual Bettor
Typically an easy group to be around, these people are mostly in it for the social aspect. These guys would prefer to do it in a group setting and are going to enjoy the process. It’s a rarity to see one change up their style, as they drink and bet consistently. They prefer low-risk bets and betting on favorites just to see one go through.
Cheap Domestic Beer Drinkers – The Hail Mary Bettors
This group puts up numbers quantity-wise. Expect a dozen $1 to win $1,000 parlays a day, in hopes that one hits eventually. Their expectations are low and they don’t take losses hard, not just because it’s low stakes but also because there’s always the next case or bet to be made. You are likely to find them betting on obscure sports just to have the action going, or drinking at times not seen as appropriate by society.
Sour & Selters Drinkers – The Trendy Bettor
If you put these guys in front of a live sportsbook instead of their handful of betting apps, they wouldn’t know what to do. However, you best believe that they will navigate the online betting world better than anyone, taking advantage of all the bonuses and promos. They check what the current betting trends are on social media, hoping to find the next big thing.
Stout & Porter Drinkers – The Patient, Big Game Bettor
This group doesn’t fire away on any given Tuesday night but instead picks their spots. They still enjoy doing it but aren’t likely to overdo it for drinking or betting. These fellas also know the patience of a slow sipper, so they enjoy taking futures bets that don’t settle for months.
Imported Beer Drinkers – The Old-School Bettor
These guys can’t be swayed into the ways of the new age, for betting or beer. They choose to opt for traditional style bets like money lines and parlays rather than fancy same-game parlays or prop bets. There may be flashier options, but there isn’t any convincing them that there are other ways to do it.
Again, this shouldn’t be taken as gospel, but it is fun to think about. This isn’t a specific science but rather built off observations.
Do you fall into any of these categories, or are you an exception? Have you noticed any other connections, or would change anything here? Remember, betting and drinking are an awesome combo, but should both be done responsibly.
