Tysen Knight: Crafty Celebrity Stories

Actor, filmmaker and artist Tysen Knight joins The Beer Connoisseur for the next installment of Crafty Celebrity Stories, which features the best tales of ale (and more) from leading actors, celebrities and persons of interest.

Tysen Knight is a multi-talented artist, actor and filmmaker who played Kanye West in the spoof movie Epic Movie. Knight has written, directed and starred in two documentary features called The Art of Hustle, which detail the lives of street artists as well as homeless artists. 

Beer drinkers like to laugh. What’s the funniest drinking story or moment you can share with us?
I’m standing by the bar with my friend, and I turn around for one second and he faceplants off the bar stool onto the floor – but he never dropped his beer! He gets up and says someone pushed him? Impossible because of his position at the bar! I turned to him and said yeah, ''Jack, last name… Daniels!" Great times!

Who's the coolest person you've had a beer or drink with?
I once was at club in Hollywood and I walk past a table and a guy says, ''Hey have a drink with me!'' I look up and it's David Hasselhoff. Doesn’t get any cooler than Mr. Knight Rider! 

What are a few of your favorite craft beers and why?
Dogfish Head Craft Brewery makes a great brew... they got the right ingredients and hop combinations. I also love the selection at Trader Joe’s here in California as well; an amazing selection of craft beers to choose from.

Do you have a favorite (craft) brewery or breweries and why?
My favorite is La Quinta Brewing Company in Palm Springs, California. It has a great variety of craft beers and an on-site brewing facility that gives it a homegrown feel.   

Have you attended any beer events, art festivals serving beer, or festivals that you particularly enjoyed? What made them stand out?
I love attending festivals that serve craft beer! What an amazing opportunity to taste all the different craft beers out there. What stood out is the microbreweries and the love and effort they put into each craft beer. I will be attending the Craft Beer Festival 2019 in August at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, California as well as some events surrounding Art Basel in Florida. 

What new projects in the art world do you have brewing?
