Three guys and a beer — that’s how Cape May Brewing Company came to be. Back in 2011, Ryan, Hank, and Mop Man brewed their first batch of Cape May IPA, kegged it up, and sold it to a bar up the street…

…and began South Jersey’s craft revolution.

Our Story

Cape May Brewing Company began with one simple question: Where’s all the beer down here?? With that in mind, we decided to provide South Jersey with fresh, delicious, local beer to put New Jersey on the map as a craft beer state.

In July 2011, we found our home at the Cape May Airport, excitedly purchased our forklift, and delivered our first keg of Cape May IPA to Cabanas Beach Bar and Grill. Since then, we’ve proudly brewed all our beers here, crafting balanced and flavorful ales and lagers for thousands of happy locals and visitors.

Throughout the year, hundreds of our beers can be found throughout the South Jersey and Philadelphia areas. We are proud to self-distribute our beers to hundreds of bars, restaurants, and liquor stores, ensuring premium freshness and excellent service. While the majority of our beers are only available on draft, we bottle several of our flagship brews as well as our recent, highly-acclaimed Barrel Aged Series.

Our Tasting Room is the largest and most accessible in the state, with a spacious and sunny Beer Garden. You can visit our gift shop, “The Brewtique,” and take our interactive, self-guided tour. While many production breweries are only open a few hours per week, we are open daily from Noon to 8pm for tours and tastings.

We’d love for you to stop by!

Why Beer?

Crafted on the Cape

It’s a phrase we take seriously at CMBC, crafting each of our beers with quality ingredients, many of them locally-sourced — and in South Jersey, those local ingredients are some of the best in the country. With a commitment to variety, CMBC has something for every palate.

Our Flagships

Cape May IPA

The O.G. IPA of South Jersey

6.3% ABV | 63 IBU | India Pale Ale

The American IPA named for America’s Oldest Seaside Resort, Cape May IPA is loaded with floral and citrus notes, well-balanced with a zesty finish. A West Coast-style IPA brewed at the heart of the East Coast, it’s the beer that’s Crafted on the Cape.

Availability: Year-round

Coastal Evacuation

Hurricane Season Hits Hard -- Are you prepared?

8% ABV | 70 IBU | Imperial/Double India Pale Ale

Coastal Evacuation -- it’s a phrase that’s everywhere at the Jersey Shore. This West Coast-style Double IPA is as big and as bold as hurricane season itself, with a Centennial-forward, brazen blend of hops serving up hints of orange citrus and honeydew melon. It’s time to evacuate. Are you prepared?

Availability: Year-round

Devil's Reach

It will swallow you whole

8.6% ABV | 25 IBU | Belgian Strong Golden Ale

A Belgian beast, fruity and light, the complexity and character of Devil’s Reach comes from a robust Belgian yeast. Deceptively simple, caution is demanded because, before you know it, Devil’s Reach has swallowed you whole.

Availability: Year-round

Summer Catch

Complex and approachable, just like the Jersey Shore

5.5% ABV | 30 IBU | Witbier

Citrusy and refreshing, notes of orange peel and tropical fruits dominate this Belgian-style Wheat Ale. Lightly dry-hopped with Citra and Amarillo hops to give it a noticeably American twist, this crushable wheat ale is complex, yet approachable, just like the Jersey Shore.

Availability: Summer

Mop Water

Don't overthink it, just drink it!

7.3% ABV | 25 IBU | Spiced Brown Ale

CMBC's Chief Mop Man mandated a beer brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and a s-load of real vanilla. Combining these spices with the flavors of German malts creates a brown ale perfect for cool autumn evenings and bitter winter nights.

Availability: Autumn

Honey Porter

5.4% ABV | 35 IBU | Porter

Here's a taste of South Jersey, better known for farms than fist pumping. Roasted and dark crystal malts shine through in a smooth and light-bodied porter that is balanced by a hint of sweetness thanks to the local Jersey Fresh honey. Welcome to the Garden State, bro. Apiology is the bee's knees!

Availability: Year-round

Apple Bomb

8% ABV | 20 IBU | Fruit Beer

The apple never falls far from the tree, and Apple Bomb tastes like the apple fell right out of the tree and directly into your beer. We designed this brew to be an explosion of apple flavor in a well-balanced wheat beer, adding the apple-y goodness at the tail end of fermentation to retain a soft and gentle apple aroma. With its bready and biscuity malts balanced by the sharpness of the apples, Apple Bomb will be the apple of your eye!

Always Ready

4.8% ABV | 23 IBU | Northeast Pale Ale

Cape May is home to the Coast Guard, so we salute those who are Always Ready with a juicy, Northeast Pale Ale. With the addition of wheat and oats for a medium body and with brilliant aromas of tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, and citrus zest, this lush hop-bomb is Always Ready.

Our Barrel Aged Series

In the summer of 2016, Cape May Brew Co. embarked on a journey that had been almost two years in the making. Our Barrel Aged Series -- a series of barrel-aged sour beers -- were first offered up in our gift shop, The Brewtique. Portions of these brews had been aging in oaken wine barrels for over two years, making them gorgeously vinous, eminently silky, and unbelievably drinkable.
