Beer Here: Anchor Double Liberty IPA

Anchor Brewing Double Liberty

After 40 years, Anchor Brewing in San Francisco is releasing a sequel of sorts to its landmark Liberty Ale -- Double Liberty IPA.

In order to satiate the hop heads, Double Liberty will feature double the hops and double the IBUs of its predecessor. It also ratchets up the ABV, clocking in at a respectable 8.2%.

Liberty Ale was strikingly different from other beers when it debuted in 1975 and it has been an influential beer throughout its entire existence. Brewmaster Mark Carpenter elaborates: "When people first tried our classic Liberty Ale in 1975, its strong hop flavor was a shock and delight to their palate. Liberty Ale truly broke the mold, starting a trend towards hoppy beers that continues today as beer fans increasingly enjoy hop-forward IPAs."

Double Liberty IPA continues this trend towards highly hoppy brews. It will be available in 4-packs and on draft for a limited time beginning in June.
