East Brother Beer Co. Releases Seasonal Festbier

East Brother Beer Co. Releases Seasonal Festbier

East Brother Beer Co. in Richmond, California has released its seasonal Festbier just ahead of autumn. Full details from the brewery are below regarding the beer's release.

Oktoberfest 2020 will look a bit different from previous years, but our team is determined to find reasons to celebrate, with the release of a seasonal favorite - our world-class Festbier.

East Brother Beer’s Festbier is a smooth, clean, pale German lager with a moderately strong malty flavor and light hop character. Deftly balancing strength and drinkability, this bright, clear, golden lager showcases German malt flavors without becoming too heavy or filling.

In 2019, our Festbier earned a score of 96 (out of 100) by The Beer Connoisseur, qualifying it as “World Class.” And it was chosen as #6 out of the top 200 beers of the year. BC judges agreed that besides being delicious and darn near flawless, this beer was the perfect pairing for bratwurst, and at only 5.8% ABV, you can celebrate with more than just one.

Festbier sounds like it’s been around for centuries, but it was actually first introduced in the early 1970s, when brewers in Bavaria decided that if they were going to drink all day, they needed something a little lighter than the typical Oktoberfest styles commonly available at the time. Regardless of its age, this brew is meant for celebration, and celebrate is what we’re going to do.

We’re bringing together half a dozen local Richmond businesses to celebrate their success. We’ve collectively been through a lot this year - global pandemic, wildfires, fractured national politics, the struggle for social and racial justice…and we’re ready to step back for a moment and take a breath. This next edition of our Virtual Taproom series will celebrate resilience, and allow us to enjoy the simple pleasure of a well-made beer.

Join us on Zoom (meeting code 0911) as we talk shop with local restaurants, bars, barbershops, and other businesses. We’ll hear how they’ve pivoted to survive, what worked, what didn’t, and how the community came together to support them - and there might be a yodeling contest in there somewhere…
