Highland Brewing Co. Launches Second Year of "Give Back with Gaelic" Campaign

Highland Brewing Co. has raised over $25,000 with its Give Back with Gaelic campaign, and the brewery is bringing it back this year. Full details are below.

ASHEVILLE, NC — Highland Brewing Company launches its second year of “Give Back with Gaelic,” a charitable giving campaign to support hospitality industry workers across the brewery’s entire Southeast distribution footprint. The campaign will run from September through the end of the year.

According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, leisure and hospitality unemployment rates still exceed the national unemployment rate by 3.6%. In response to the ongoing need, the brewery is stepping up for a second year to give a portion of the proceeds from sales of Gaelic Ale, the brewery’s flagship amber ale, to seven locally significant non-profits aimed to support the hospitality community.

Highland’s Family Owner and President, Leah Ashburn, said, “We have first-hand experience navigating pandemicrelated hospitality challenges in both of our taprooms. However, with customers purchases from across our footprint and the support from our wholesale partners, we have the ability to repeat this giving program. Highland will continue to do whatever we can to help pay it forward to so many of our own who still need support during this long road to recovery.”

Arches Brewing Releases Seasonal Black Gold Schwarzbier

Arches Brewing in Hapeville, Georgia has announced its release of Black Gold Schwarzbier in time for the fall season. Full details are below.

ATLANTA, GA – Arches Brewing seasonal Schwarzbier returns Friday, September 17. Black Gold is a German-style dark lager built on a traditional Schwarzbier base. Black Gold is a fantastic pivot into Fall after a hot Georgia summer.

Black Gold is made with floral and spicy hops that give the dark beer a chocolatey aroma and a warm flavor profile. Like any good Schwarzbier, Black Gold has a subtle hop profile featuring Noble German hops. These hops provide just enough bitterness to balance the beer’s signature roast character. While dark in color, Black Gold drinks incredibly light and sessionable, so it’s the perfect transition from your favorite crushable summer beers.

Black Gold will be available on draft and for to-go at Arches Brewing in Hapeville. Fans of Arches can also find this beer in distribution across Georgia in restaurants and package stores.

When you visit Arches Brewing this weekend, enjoy local food. Phew’s Pies is a local pizza pop-up serving at Arches Brewing on Friday, September 17. Go Dog! is a growing local pop-up making unique, gourmet hot dogs, serving at Arches Brewing on Sunday, September 19.

Stochasticity: crHeam Ale Infused with Helium (Curated Video)

Helium Beer is what happens when a beer-obsessed scientist has free rein to create beers that push the boundaries of the craft beer industry and science alike—a beer infused with helium. Wait, what? Is that even possible? Yep. And not only did Stone Brewing Co. do it first, we did it with a cream ale and double dry-hopped it to add that extra tropical, bitter goodness one would expect of a lupulin-obsessed craft brewery. Mind blown! Starting today, Stone Stochasticity Project Cr(He)am Ale with Helium is available in 16-ounce cans at retailers, restaurants and bars in select markets nationwide.

While Helium Beer may have been debunked, that still won't stop those merry hopheads at Stone from having a go at them!

Samuel Adams Announces Launch Date of 2021 Utopias

Samuel Adams in Boston, Massachusetts has announced that its famed Utopias series is returning this year in time for the holidays. Full details on this release are below.

Read the full history of Samuel Adams Utopias here.

BOSTON —The brewers at Samuel Adams are raising a glass to the highly anticipated release date of Samuel Adams Utopias, beer at its most spirited. Available starting October 11, the 12th biennial edition of Utopias was finished on 2,000 pounds of cherries, including Michigan Balaton cherries, to bring a slight sweetness and touch of tart flavor to this 28% ABV rarity.

Sam Adams Utopias is a spirited blend of multiple batches of our extreme beers, some held in reserve for just this coveted biennial release. In fact, some of the beer dates back nearly three decades, aging in wooden bourbon casks. Brewers then finish the blend in a combination of Carcavelos, Madeira, Ruby Port, and Sherry Oloroso barrels. This year, for the first time, brewers also aged a portion of the blend in Sauternes French oak wine casks which brings subtle notes of honeyed apricot and caramel to the rich layers of flavor.

Introducing Samuel Adams HeliYUM (Curated Video)

Jim Koch, founder of the Boston Beer Co. and Samuel Adams beer introduces it helium beer Samuel Adams HeliYUM to commemorate April 1, 2014.

"While devoting ourselves to the 'Noble' pursuit of perfecting the flavor of Noble Hops we've been exploring Noble Gasses as well. Lightened from heavier gases like CO2, HeliYum takes advantages of the properties of helium -- one of the noble gases -- for a truly remarkable brew. Helium's unique index of refraction creates brilliant clarity while providing an incredibly light mouth feel. Since Helium is an odorless gas, it doesn't compete with the natural aromas of the ingredients. From a freshness perspective, helium doesn't oxidize which allows for a much longer shelf life."
