A proper English Porter indeed! Bittersweet chocolate with a touch of coffee and roast malt in the aroma invites you to partake, and some dark fruit notes and a slight earthy hop quality round out the aroma. Pouring a clear dark brown with ruby highlights with a creamy tan head staying throughout, this is a beautiful beer to behold. The chocolate appears in the flavor and is joined by roasted malt, coffee and dark toffee. Earthy hops and sufficient hop bitterness and roastiness keep it from being totally malt dominated. The roast also contributes to providing a dry, well-attenuated finish. Medium in body with moderate carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel, this is an easy-drinking, malt-forward and extremely well balanced beer with enough complexity to keep it interesting and thoroughly enjoyable throughout the entire sampling. Highly recommended!
