Dual Exhaust West Coast Double IPA by Garage Brewing Co. is an American IPA and is being evaluated as an American IPA (category 21A from the 2021 BJCP Beer Style Guidelines). American IPAs are hop-forward beers typically expressing American or new world hop characters which are most typically citrusy, piney or resiny in character. Dual Exhaust was brewed with Mosaic and Amarillo hops and measures in at 8.1% ABV.

Dual Exhaust pours dark golden in color with good clarity and a small white head. The aroma is prominent resin and mango hops with notes of chlorophyll, dank and a hint of onion; a light bready malt note is noticeable underneath the aggressive hops. The flavor has a little more refined hop character with flavors of resin and pine and lighter citrusy notes supported by a light bready and caramel maltiness. The beer finishes moderately bitter with moderate lingering resiny and piney hop flavors over a light bready malt.

Dual Exhaust is a solid IPA. The hop flavors are appropriately prominent throughout the beer and the hopping level is supported by just enough malt. The hop aroma, while appropriately aggressive, was slightly rough and unrefined. Regardless, hop heads will find this beer very enjoyable.
