This Imperial IPA featured a really subtle hop aroma. I am looking for something a little more hop-forward and aggressive in a Double IPA and this beer just didn’t have it. It did have a nice, light straw color with very good carbonation and head retention, but the beer’s looks were let down by an unbalanced flavor. I would have liked more malt to balance out the hops, which were aggressive and straightforward with nuances of pine and resin. It had a medium body with a little dryness in the finish. This is a nicely made beer, but it was not as complex as other Double IPAs that I’ve tasted.
