Nine Pin Ciderworks Announces Disco Berry Cider to Celebrate Pride Month

Nine Pin Ciderworks Announces Disco Berry Cider to Celebrate Pride Month

Nine Pin Ciderworks, New York State’s first farm cidery, is celebrating Pride Month with a new celebratory cider, Disco Berry, which will be available in clear bottles that highlight Disco Berry’s special ingredient: edible glitter.

Disco Berry is crafted with NY apples from Samascott Orchard in Kinderhook, quince from Orchard Dale Fruit Co. in Waterport, raspberries from Yonder Farms in North Greenbush, and blueberries from Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont.

Disco Berry will be available in 750mL bottles, with 6.9% abv, in the Tasting Room in Albany, and Nine Pin’s off premise events such as the Schenectady and Troy weekly farmers markets, Schenectady Pridefest on June 1st, Troy’s Veg Out on June 2nd, and the pick-your-own Strawberry Saturday festival at Samascott Orchards on June 15th. For those who wish to try the cider with a little less sparkle, there will be kegs available in the tasting room with the option to include glitter. All bottles will contain the edible glitter.

Nine Pin will donate $2 for each bottle sold to OutHudson’s scholarship fund. In collaboration with Columbia-Greene Community College Scholarship Foundation, the Hudson, New York-based nonprofit has developed an OutHudson LGBTQ Scholarship Fund.

“We’ve been supporting OutHudson’s programs since 2019 and have donated $6,238 to our Columbia County friends,” said Alejandro del Peral, Nine Pin’s co-owner and head cidermaker. “Inclusion and support mean a great deal to Nine Pin and our team members, and this year we’ve made it even more fun––who wouldn’t want a little more shine to brighten their day?”

To mark the beginning of Pride Month, Disco Berry will be available June 1st, when Nine Pin is hosting a drag show with popular local star Typhoid Mary. OutHudson will also be there sharing information about their organization. The event is free, but more details can be found here.

Nine Pin will also host a Disco Berry Disco on Saturday, June 29th from 9pm until midnight where Disco Berry will be featured among more glittery party fun. D.J. Mercy will lead the festivities. Tickets are just $5, and will be sold on site, on the day of the event. Nine Pin will stay open an hour later than usual for this special event.

Cider connoisseurs may enjoy Nine Pin’s ciders seven days a week in their Albany Tasting Room, located in the City’s Warehouse district, and from retailers across New York State, Massachusetts and New Jersey, as well as at bars and restaurants who proudly carry Nine Pin products. Residents in other states may purchase Nine Pin’s ciders through Nine Pin’s online store.
