On Saturday, March 1, Von Ebert Brewing opens its taproom off N. Mississippi Ave., at 825 N Cook St, Portland, OR 97227. Doors open at 12 p.m. and the first few hundred guests will receive a commemorative t-shirt marking the occasion. And throughout 2025, customers can purchase 20oz steins of Clubhaus Lager for just $3 only at the new location.

“Since we moved in nearly a year ago to expand brewing capacity, N. Mississippi Ave. has been a truly welcoming home to Von Ebert Brewing. We’re looking forward to being good neighbors, bringing more people to this part of town. So please join us when floating down the Mississippi,” said Sam Pecoraro, brewmaster of Von Ebert Brewing. “We’re fortunate to continue to invest in Portland, expanding our production and distribution so we can sell more of our award-winning beer here in Oregon and now in neighboring states. We’re excited to open the taproom so people can continue to taste our award-winning beers, where tradition meets evolution.”

Much of the taproom décor came from local and N. Mississippi nursery, Pistils. The design incorporates greenery and dark tones for a cozy vibe, with some touches from the old Pearl District location. Before summer, Von Ebert Brewing will also build an outdoor patio space with a stage for live music – another staple of the N. Mississippi neighborhood.

HarBQ is Oregon oak smoked PNW “style” BBQ done right. While a barbeque company focused on sourcing and cooking high quality meats, HarBQ also tries to provide delicious seasonal veggie options. HarBQ will start with a 3-day a week schedule Friday-Sunday, then eventually expanding to Thursday. Outside food will also be allowed.

“This was a no-brainer. I’m glad to have a more permanent space next to some of Portland’s finest brewers,” said Harlan Porterfield, chef and owner of HarQB. “To kick off this partnership, I collaborated with the Von Ebert Brewing team to create ‘The Company We Keep XPA’ because nothing goes better with amazing barbeque than award-winning crisp, refreshing Von Ebert beer.”

The Company We Keep XPA will be available in 16oz cans and draft at Von Ebert Brewing locations, as well as in Northwest bars, bottleshops and grocery stores.

By moving into the brewing facility off N. Mississippi Ave. a year ago, Von Ebert Brewing is expanding production and distribution from 4,000 barrels per year to as much as 20,000 barrels per year. This has allowed Von Ebert Brewing to sell more of its offerings in 12-ounce cans including: Volatile Substance NW IPA, Sector 7 Hazy IPA, Pils a German-style Pilsner and Clubhaus American Light Lager. Other seasonal offerings and collaborations will also be on draft and in 16oz cans at the new location.

Von Ebert Brewing was founded in 2018 by Tom M. Cook and Tom S. Cook in Portland, Oregon. Von Ebert Brewing is named after the family matriarch lovingly refer to as “Grandma Ebert.” The quintessential immigrant story, Grandma Ebert came to America from Germany via Ellis Island and relied on her grit and determination to create a successful life for her family here in the states. In that vein, the brewery has displayed those same traits and gained success through numerous World Beer Cup medals: 2023 Gold German-Style Pilsner with Pils and 2024 Bronze Vienna Lager. Our moniker celebrates Grandma’s tenacity and honors our heritage. Von Ebert translates loosely to “House of Ebert” or in full English, “House of the Boar.”
