This ESB from everyone’s favorite pugilistic Bear and Lion brewer, Firestone Walker, has a pleasant toasted biscuit lead tempered by an equally pleasant bitterness perfectly suited to the style. The malt also lends a tidbit of caramel, toasted oak, and English toffee. I’ve never tasted the latter, but I yearn for a chance to do so in the near future, if nothing else but to wash it down with this ale, which earns the highest novice review one can give: “Eminently Quaffable”.
