Habanero Sculpin

Ballast Point Brewing Company’s Sculpin IPA is a hot commodity. Whether it be the excellently balanced and intensely flavorful grapefruit-infused version or the original West Coast IPA masterclass, Sculpin satiates both hopheads and beer geeks alike.

Today’s Pint Break is another hot Sculpin varietal. As in literally hot.

Habanero Sculpin had tongues wagging around the office until they were set aflame by the massive Scoville quotient inside this beauty.

Although the generous habanero flavor burns on the way down and completely dominates the palate, the beer miraculously avoids being an overly spicy esophagus-numbing monstrosity. Ballast Point manages to interweave the intense heat of a habanero pepper with the Sculpin’s fulfilling hop backbone.

All I can say is this beer is hot, hot, hot – in terms of flavor, popularity and execution.
