Coastal Harmony by Urban South Brewery was judged as a Double IPA (BJCP Style 22A).

This beer poured out a murky hazy orange, with a thick pungent off-white head that rode high the entire tasting session. Immediate aromatic notes of pine, lemon zest and vanilla jumped out as it sat near me on the counter, beckoning me to taste.

The beer flashed a pretty direct earthy bitterness, with a solid caramel component, backed by a substantial mouthfeel. Carbonation impact was relatively subdued, but the alcohol prevalence in the finish was true to style at a healthy 9.2%.

While the beer was indeed bitter, there was not as lingering of a bitterness in the finish, which I know that some appreciate while some do not. I would consider this to be a solid DIPA. Very conventional in its approach, but seemed like it could use just a touch more punch on the hop bitterness and complexity to bump it up in range.
