Mango Deuce Coupe Double IPA by Garage Brewing Co. is being evaluated as a Fruit Beer (Category 29A) from the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.

Mango Deuce Coupe Double IPA hits the drinker with a very prominent mango aroma that has an impression of sweetness. Moderate orange citrus hop aroma follows but quickly fades to take a backseat to the mango. The mango character grows as the beer warms and vents, along with a candy-like bready maltiness. Light floral alcohol emerges in the background. The flavor also showcases prominent mango, with the hop character shifting into moderate fresh pine needles and resin, which also fades out. The moderately high hop bitterness offers some balance to the big residual sweetness and lingers into a medium-sweet finish. Light bready malt makes a hit-and-run appearance behind the mango. Light floral alcohol flavor and moderate alcohol warming remind you that this is indeed a double IPA.

A reduction in the mango would help make this a more balanced beer; it works well with the base beer style but is just too powerful. Better attenuation would create a drier finish, and also help bring out the hop aroma and flavor more. The sweet finish tends to create a less pintable beer.
