pFriem Pale Ale by pFriem Family Brewers is an American pale ale and is being evaluated as an American pale ale (category 18B in the 2015 BJCP Beer Style Guidelines). American pale ales are hop forward ales (but less so than American IPAs) with enough supporting malt to balance the hops. pFriem Pale Ale was brewed with Citra, Mosaic and Cashmere hop varieties.

pFriem Pale Ale pours light golden in color with excellent clarity and a huge, finely-beaded white head. The aroma is of moderately citrusy, resiny and perfumy hops over a hint of malt. The flavor is similarly hoppy with flavors of citrus, resins and stone fruit over just a hint of malt. The beer finishes moderately bitter and fairly dry with moderately light citrusy and resiny hops.

This is a pleasant, approachable and quaffable hoppy beer. However, a little more malt presence would allow the beer to be more evenly balanced and more true-to-style. Regardless, this is a well brewed hoppy ale. Be sure to try this hoppy beer!
