Good Monster by Collective Arts Brewing is being evaluated as a Double IPA (Category 22A) from the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.

This New England-style Double IPA pours a cloudy yellow with a white head that leaves a thick stand of fine bubbles on the beer. The aroma features a mixed tropical fruit hop character with a focus on ripe pineapple. As the pineapple fades down, grapefruit zest and bright orange emerge. Moderately light malt reminiscent of cookie dough develops as the beer opens up.

The flavor has a prominent citrus profile consisting of grapefruit trailed by light pineapple. Following closely behind is mixed passion fruit and light bready, grainy malt and wheat character. High and smooth hop bitterness emerges mid-palate that lingers through the finish into the aftertaste. There is a light residual sweetness in the middle that fades into a medium-dry finish. Moderately light alcohol warming, a medium-full body, moderate carbonation and a light creaminess rounds out the palate.

This is a mixed tropical and citrus hop monster with the bitterness of a northwest-style IPA. This one is sure to please both hazy and American-style IPA fans with an overall hop character that is fresh and bright. On a side note, you will also enjoy the wonderful artistry of the labels, they are both fun and imaginative.
