Description
XXOLO Lager – inspired by Latin American traditional preferences – is light, crisp, and refreshing. Motueka Hops were chosen for their exciting notes. Numerous high quality malts, including Maris Otter, which adds a rich biscuity-like flavor, and flaked corn maize, which lightens the body, also add a slightly smoother character.

XXOLO Aureo Cerveza by Garage Brewing Co. was evaluated as an International Pale Lager (BJCP2015 substyle 2A). The beer pours a very clear yellowish light straw with a large white head of small and medium-sized bubbles that quickly dissipates. The aroma is a light bready with just a hint of floral and black pepper. Tasting the beer echoes the aroma with a slight biscuity, bready note and hint of honey and a hint of corn, and a short floral (and maybe very light tropical) finish. Very light bittering doesn’t linger. A medium-light body and highly carbonated with bubbles continuing to rise for minutes after being poured. This is a very well-made version of the style – very light but with no flaws (which can’t be hidden in such a light beer). Very refreshing, particularly cold. This beer would be great with tacos after a hot day of gardening, but also would pair well with bratwurst on the grill.
