United by Brew: Mahalo Aleworks and Kohola Brewery Merge Under Lahaina Brewing Co.

Two of Maui’s most cherished breweries are joining forces under a single, island-rooted identity. Lahaina Brewing Co. is reintroducing Mahalo Aleworks and Kohola Brewery as unified taproom experiences, honoring their shared heritage and expanding their reach. This transformation reflects a powerful blend of resilience, community, and craft — brewed in Lahaina and poured across Hawaiʻi.
As part of the transformation:
- Mahalo Aleworks will become LBC Upcountry Taproom in Makawao,
- Kohola Brewery will become LBC Wailea Craft Kitchen in Wailea,
According to a press release from Lahaina Brewing Co., both locations will remain deeply rooted in their sense of place — embracing the distinct culture, flavor, and community that define their upcountry and coastal homes. Guests can continue to expect locally brewed craft beers, live music, community events, and philanthropic collaborations that give back to the island and its people.
Lahaina Brewing Co. has always been the parent company behind Kohola Brewery— whose original brewery was tragically lost in the Lahaina fires of 2023. While the brewery names are now uniting under LBC, the company’s five flagship canned beers- Lahaina Haze IPA, Talk Story Pale Ale, Lokahi Pilsner, Red Sand Amber Ale, and Waterman IPA- will continue to be released as the Kohola Series throughout Hawaiʻi, ensuring its story and spirit live on.
