Country Mile’s aroma has a fresh, doughy punch. It is pils-like, dry, grainy, and clean, without a noticeable ester that would otherwise be acceptable for the style. It pours clear and golden with a tall, white, pillowy head.
The flavor also has a pils-like, crackery character. It’s dry with moderate hop bitterness throughout the sip. There is a low level of herbal, noble hop flavor as it begins to warm up in the glass, along with a light pear ester. It tastes lightly minerally, which is welcome here, and is otherwise clean. The finish is crisp with a mild acidity.
Country Mile has a medium body and medium-high carbonation. The white head remains after awhile. This is a delicious beer, and the style doesn’t matter so much for something like this that is just plain refreshing and enjoyable to drink. Take this one outside.
Brewer’s Description
Under a blue sky, magnificent stretches of fields span for a Country Mile. A delightful equilibrium between sweet pale barley malt and floral hops affords this golden Kölsch-style ale to be crisp and refreshing.
