Dan Preston is a National-ranked BJCP judge and accomplished homebrewer with a strong focus on hop-forward and sour beer styles. His passion for craft beer began in college, sparking years of brewery tours and tastings before diving into homebrewing in 2009. Dan joined the historic Boston Wort Processors—one of the nation’s oldest homebrew clubs—and quickly became active in judging and education within the community.
By 2013, Dan earned his National rank as a BJCP judge. Since 2011, he has served as a club officer, helping organize multiple AHA/BJCP-sanctioned competitions and promoting brewing innovation and education. While he brews and enjoys all beer styles, Dan has a particular interest in hoppy and sour beers—and is known for skillfully combining the two.
With years of experience in beer judging, brewing, and community leadership, Dan brings deep knowledge and creativity to every pint he reviews.
