Founder and President of the American Craft Beer Hall of Fame, established in 2024, Marty Nachel is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the legacy of the pioneers who built the U.S. craft beer industry. With nearly four decades of experience, he has played a central role in advancing craft beer culture through writing, education, and professional judging.
As the author of five books on beer and brewing—including the best-selling Beer For Dummies and Homebrewing For Dummies—he has helped educate thousands of beer enthusiasts and homebrewers around the world. His influence extends into the classroom, having spent nearly a decade shaping the Business of Craft Beer certificate program at the College of DuPage, where he also taught foundational courses until 2023.
A highly respected beer evaluator, he has judged both homebrew (BJCP Certified since 1986) and commercial competitions globally. His judging resume includes prestigious events such as the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, Copa Cervezas de America, African Beer Cup, and Canada Beer Cup, among many others.
