Sean Coughlin is a passionate brewer and BJCP National Judge with a multi-award-winning homebrewing background. An Advanced Cicerone®, Sean’s brewing journey began in a dry county in Kentucky, where he sought better access to quality beer by brewing his own. He has brewed two Best of Show winning homebrews in collaboration with professional breweries, including a Pro-Am entry at the Great American Beer Festival with F.X. Matt/Saranac Brewing.
Sean actively judges beer competitions along the East Coast of the U.S. and Eastern Canada, regularly serving as a judge at the Great American Beer Festival. He also contributes to grading BJCP and Advanced Cicerone® exams, underscoring his dedication to beer education and maintaining high judging standards.
While Sean appreciates all beer styles, he holds a special affinity for Belgian and German beers, reflecting his deep knowledge and refined palate.
