Description

Winning a Gold Medal at the 2016 World Beer Cup, Power & Light is a crisp and refreshing take on the American Pale Ale brewed with Pale and Pilsen malts, and just the right touch of Cascade hops. It is designed to be very sessionable – it finishes clean and dry with light lingering grapefruity hop notes. Inspired by Austin’s iconic, art-deco Seaholm Power Plant, this 2014 Good Food Awards Winner has become a perennial favorite of craft beer drinkers across Texas. Power & Light tastes just right!

This is a smooth, soft, subtle beer that would go down easy on a hot summer day. A hint of sulfur is first noted but that quickly dissipates and gives way to a floral, almost rose-like aroma paired with a light grainy, doughy malt and a touch of sweet honey as it warms. Continental-style hops come out with big floral notes (rose, violet, jasmine) and a peppery spice note tagging along towards the end. The clean bitterness supports the beer while not overwhelming the delicacy of it. The finish is commendable; there is an impressive clean, crisp finish that is the mark of a true craftsman. While not an over-the-top hop bomb that is so popular these days, this beer is one to seek out in order to truly admire the technical merit and craftsmanship in craft beer and brewing.
