This beer has a rich blend of tropical fruit notes with hints of pineapple, mango & guava. With pleasing tartnesss, it’s a tropical twist on a refreshing fruit gose.

Tanker Truck Sour Series - Pineapple Mango Gose by Two Roads Brewing Co. was judged as a Fruit Beer (29A) with pineapple and mango based on the gose style. A bready/doughy yeast character is detected in the aroma with a light sulfur hint. Some acidity is also noted. The fruit is not coming through in the aroma or is being masked by the yeast notes. The color is a light gold straw with some haze making it somewhat opaque. Very little head is formed, though bubbles continuously rise in the glass. The fruit lends some sweetness, but the specific fruit flavors are subdued and hard to discern as either pineapple or mango. This is a good thing, and the restrained fruit balances the relatively tart character of the fermentation. This tartness has a lemon rind quality and is slightly puckering on the palate. The acidity from fruit, yeast or both is nicely balanced with the sweet and tart qualities. A salt character is also noticeable, but balanced as in a well-made gose. The body is medium-light with some sensation of fullness from the wheat malt, particularly in the finish. The carbonation is lively, but not excessive. Though this is a fruit beer by description, it really serves to showcase the gose style, not the fruit. And as a gose, it is quite good. As a fruit beer, it very much lands on the subtle side of fruit expression in beer. If you like tart or sour beers, this one is very good. If you are looking for a fruit-forward beer, this one may not be for you. I quite enjoy it for what it is, though: a well-constructed gose that happens to have some fruit additions delivering a little more complexity.
