Throw Back Vibes by Urban South Brewery was judged as a BJCP Style 21A, American IPA.
The brewer describes this as a West Coast IPA but it lacks the assertive West Coast bitterness, which, in this case is not a bad thing. Hoppy, citrus and tropical fruit fill the aroma with less pine that typical for the West Coast and the aroma lacks a little voluptuousness. It pours medium-gold with a light haze under a robust off-white cap with good retention. Fruit flavors dominate with citrus leading, closely followed by tropical fruit, stone fruit, berry and a hint of melon. The bitterness is soft and moderate, coming forward in the finish. The flavors begin mildly sweet and dry on the finish. Alcohol flavors are clean and smooth. There are no caramel, toast or sulfur flavors. This is a big beer, bursting with nuanced hop flavors that the brewer develops very well and every hop lover will appreciate.
