Birthday Month Flowers and Fruit Double IPA by Wild Leap Brew Co. was judged using style guidelines provided by the Beer Judge Certification Program under category 22A Double IPA after being dispensed from a 17-ounce can into a pint glass.
Assertive fruity aromatics assail the nostrils and dominate the aroma profile. Floral notes mix with citrus and dark fruits in a pleasing fashion.
Pale yellow in color, turbid with a tight-knit bright white head that persisted throughout this review.
The flavor was a fruit basket of complexity. Passion and stone fruit were evident along with a piney citrus piquancy that married well with the firm presence of Mosaic hops. Finish was slightly dry yet not bitter.
This beer featured a medium-to-thin body with no astringency and perceived alcohol on the light end of the spectrum.
This New England double IPA was unique in its presentation of the fruity nature of the style.
