Lake Hopp’r Florida Lager by Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co. is being judged as an American Lager (category 1B) per the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines.

This beer pours a gold color with very slight chill haze. A bone white head of fine, mousse-like bubbles is persistent and leaves a beautiful lacing on the glass as this beer is consumed. The aroma of this beer is extremely subtle, save a slight wet paper component. The initial flavor is light wet paper followed up by a medium-low bitterness. There is a neutral-flavored low malt sweetness. This is followed by a lingering medium-low bitterness in the flavor with a touch of hop-derived spice. This beer has a medium carbonation with a medium-thin body.

Overall, the sample provided was not quite what I was expecting. While the interpretation of the style is meant to be a very neutral flavor profile, the touch of oxidized/wet paper in the aroma and flavor detract from the refreshing aspect the style is known for.
