Side Bae Double IPA: Idaho 7 by Wild Leap Brew Co. is being evaluated as a Hazy IPA (Category 21C) from the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines.

Side Bae Double IPA: Idaho 7 features a deep yellow color with significant haze and a fine white head that lingers. It delivers a prominent hop aroma of peach flesh with mixed tropical fruit that eventually narrows down to mango and fresh pineapple. Light cookie dough malt character develops behind the hops along with a touch of floral alcohol. A hint of fresh orange emerges as the beer warms.

The flavor follows the aroma with prominent mango, orange and light pineapple delivering a complex cornucopia of hop flavor that stays in the forefront. Light bready malt and cookie dough sweetness emerge behind to offer balance. Moderate and smooth hop bitterness comes out mid-palate and remains restrained as it passes through a light residual sweetness, which dries out to produce a medium finish. This beer has a medium-full body and smooth alcohol warming with moderate carbonation.

This is an extremely well-brewed Hazy IPA that is very hop forward, with a complex fruity character that is expected from this style. The hop bitterness is understated and appropriate and offers balance to the malt sweetness. The alcohol is light and very well integrated. If you are a fan of hazy IPAs, this is a must-have for your beer list.
