Rich malty and hoppy aromas mingle upfront in the nose, ascending from this beautiful red beer with small carbonated bubbles that linger on the glass. A malty sweetness coupled with caramel, burnt sugar and biscuity overtones slightly overwhelm the hop bitterness. The biscuity flavors are often the result of specialty grains and/or a specific yeast strain, such as the Witbread Yeast Ale. I can detect a dry-hopped flavor in the finish; dry hopping imparts a uniquely fresh hop flavor that can be very subtle and unnoticeable to the discerning palate. It had a medium mouthfeel an unusually high level of alchohol that resulted in a slight burn in the aftertaste. Overall, an interesting and beautifully colored IPA.
