Mega Juicy by Two Roads Brewing Co. is being evaluated as a Double IPA (Category 22A) from the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.

Mega Juicy pours a medium bright gold with a light haze. The creamy off-white head lingers and helps create an overall inviting appearance. The aroma features a dank, earthy and resinous hop character with a moderately low bready, doughy maltiness emerging behind. Light floral alcohol develops as the beer warms. The hops change to include a more grapefruit zest character over time. The hops also shift in the flavor to include a floral, tropical fruit and grapefruit juice character. A light bready, doughy malt wafts in and out behind the hops in the medium-dry finish. There is a smooth and pleasant medium-high hop bitterness that lingers along with moderate spicy alcohol. The alcohol warming is pleasant and appropriate for this style.

This is a very enjoyable and well brewed imperial IPA. The overall hop character is well developed and complex and plays well with the background malt. Watch out for this one, as the alcohol character is quite smooth throughout and does not give you a lot of indication that it is a 10.2% ABV beer.
