The 2025 BestBrewChallenge brought together passionate brewers from around the globe in a spirited test of skill and creativity. With identical ingredients and synchronized brewing, participants showcased their mastery through unique interpretations of the classic oatmeal stout. From bold flavors to standout packaging, the competition highlighted not only brewing excellence but also the artistry behind every bottle.

In a September 24th press release, the 2025 BestBrewChallenge organizers announced that over a hundred people (from twelve countries) took up the challenge of creating and submitting an oatmeal stout using identical basic ingredients – including this year’s mandatory BEST Oat Malt.

The BestBrewChallenge 2025 winners are:

1st place: Tomas Sirtautas, Relaxed Man Brewery (Lithuania), with the beer “Out for Delivery”

2nd place: Tomáš Kuzník, Domácí pivovárek KUZMA Brewery (Czech Republic), with the beer “Oatmeal Stout”

3rd place: Martynas Mickevičius, Martyno Alus Brewery (Lithuania), with the beer “Martyno Alus”

Creative awards for design and packaging:

Best packaging: Jürgen Scherf, Brauwerk Finkenburg, Weiskirchen (Germany), with the beer “drunk dock worker”

Best label: Philip Noltemeyer, PhilysLuederserBrew, Langenhagen (Germany), with the beer “Breakfast of Champions”

“The BestBrewChallenge is a globally unique competition in which all participants brew at the same time using the same ingredients – a real live experiment in the art of brewing,” said Dr. Axel Göhler, whose company organizes the challenge every year. The beers were evaluated by a professional jury of beer sommeliers, who took into account taste, style consistency, color, and craftsmanship.

Tomas Sirtautas has already won the BestBrewChallenge in 2021.

The BestBrewChallenge 2025 has once again proven that great beer knows no borders, and that creativity thrives even within shared constraints. From bold brews to eye-catching designs, this year’s entries offered connoisseurs a rich tapestry of flavor, style, and craftsmanship to savor. Whether you’re a seasoned brewer or a curious enthusiast, explore the full lineup and join the global community raising the bar for craft beer—one stout at a time.
