American Cider Association Partners with The Drinks Trust to Expand Certified Cider Guide™ in the UK

The American Cider Association (ACA) is teaming up with The Drinks Trust and Heineken to make cider education more accessible for UK drinks professionals. Through the DEVELOP program, participants can now take the Level 1 Certified Cider Guide™ course at no cost, gaining a globally recognized qualification in cider production, styles, and service. This initiative aims to empower hospitality workers, bartenders, and producers while strengthening the international cider community.

According to a press release from the American Cider Association, the program provides participants with a comprehensive digital study guide, on-demand video lessons, and access to the ACA’s online certification exam. Through the DEVELOP bursary, eligible learners in the UK can enroll at no cost, making cider education more inclusive than ever before.

The Certified Cider Guide™ is the first globally recognized cider qualification designed to give participants a deeper understanding of cider production, styles, and service. Delivered online and at one’s own pace, the course supports bartenders, hospitality workers, producers, and drinks professionals in building confidence, advancing their careers, and strengthening the global cider community.

“Accessibility in education is essential for a thriving industry,” said Jennie Dorsey, Executive Director of the American Cider Association. “Partnering with The Drinks Trust means more professionals can discover cider’s incredible diversity, expand their expertise, and join a growing international network of cider advocates.”

As one of the oldest cider-producing regions in the world, the UK is a natural partner for expanding professional cider education. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to supporting skill development, inclusivity, and sustainability across the drinks trade.

Nicky Burston, CEO of The Drinks Trust, shared, “Cider deserves a stronger educational spotlight within our industry. This program not only delivers practical knowledge, it also helps professionals engage with cider as a craft and a career path.”

Made possible by the support of Heineken, this partnership builds on a shared vision to empower and equip the next generation of beverage professionals with the skills to innovate and succeed.

Cider enthusiasts and industry connoisseurs alike can benefit from this unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge and advance their careers.
