Nine Pin Ciderworks is turning the final stretch of October into a full slate of Halloween-themed events at its Albany tasting room and beyond. The 10-day lineup ranges from pumpkin carving and tarot readings to ghost stories, a nighttime corn maze, and a Halloween drag show. Festivities begin October 21 and continue through Halloween.

In a press release, Nine Pin Ciderworks announced that its Halloween programming will run from October 21 through October 31, with most events taking place at the cidery’s Albany tasting room. The schedule includes Cider and a Pumpkin, tarot readings, Halloween trivia, Eerie Albany: Ghost Stories, the annual Cider Maze and the Brew-Ha-Ha Drag Show.

“Halloween means something different to each of us, and we wanted our events to reflect that,” said Jessica Riordan, Events Coordinator at Nine Pin Ciderworks. “Some people love the spooky side, some are drawn to the mystical, some want to celebrate with their kids and others want a night out with friends. We’ve tried to capture all of those different visions of Halloween and to give everyone a way to join the fun.”

The festivities begin with Cider and a Pumpkin on Wednesday, October 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A $10 ticket includes a 12-ounce hard cider and a pumpkin from Samascott Orchards, with carving tools provided and non-alcoholic options available. New this year, pumpkin carvers can enter their creations in a social media contest for a chance to win two tickets to Nine Pin’s Cider Maze at the end of the month. Pumpkins will be distributed until 8:00 p.m.

On Sunday, October 25, from noon to 5:00 p.m., guests can get a glimpse at what the cards may have in store during Tarot Readings. Two seasoned readers, including Tarot by Prudence, a Certified Tarot Master with 30 years of experience, will offer 15-minute one-on-one readings. Tickets are $30 cash at the door and are first come, first served.

Halloween takes over Nine Pin’s monthly themed trivia night on Tuesday, October 27, with questions that put guests’ spooky-season knowledge to the test. Costumes are encouraged for the free event, with sign-ups beginning at 6 p.m. and trivia starting at 6:30 p.m.

Albany’s own haunted history takes center stage on Thursday, October 29, when Nine Pin welcomes Albany Public Library and Discover Albany to the Tasting Room for Eerie Albany: Ghost Stories, an evening exploring some of the Capital City’s more mysterious tales. Who is the ghostly figure said to linger after closing at the historic Olde English Pub? What mysteries hide within the homes of Ten Broeck Triangle? And what could explain reports of shadowy figures roaming the Capitol halls at night? The free program runs from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with advance registration required.

On Friday, October 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Nine Pin takes the Halloween festivities outside and into the dark for its annual Cider Maze at Samascott’s Garden Market, 65 Chatham Street in Kinderhook. The 21+ event sends guests into Samascott’s seven-acre corn maze after sunset on a mission to find eight hidden punch stations along the way. Find four and earn $1 off a cider; find all eight and earn $1 off another cider. Guests should plan to spend about 60 to 90 minutes hunting down all eight stations.

Costumes, flashlights, and muck boots are encouraged. The evening will also feature Nine Pin hard cider and Halloween-themed cocktails, food from Piece of Heaven, Sage Pizza Co., and Samascott Orchards, live music from The Herring & The Hummingbird, and firepits to keep the chill away. Tickets are $20 in advance or $22 at the door and include maze admission and one 12-ounce hard cider. Dogs are welcome on leash.

Finally, Nine Pin will celebrate Halloween itself with its annual Brew-Ha-Ha Drag Show on Saturday, October 31, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Typhoid Mary, Psoria Siss, Veela Peculiar, Carly the Goblin and Ruthenia will take the stage, with beats by DJ Mercy. Costumes are encouraged but not required. The show is free and family-friendly, but seating is limited.

Halloween-themed cocktails will be available at the Nine Pin Tasting Room throughout the festivities, beginning October 21 and continuing through October 31. All events take place at Nine Pin’s Tasting Room, 929 Broadway in Albany, except for the Cider Maze, which happens at Samascott Orchards Garden Market.

Nine Pin’s fresh-pressed hard ciders can be enjoyed seven days a week in its Tasting Room located in Albany’s popular Warehouse District, at retailers across New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, and at bars and restaurants that carry Nine Pin products.
