Undisputed by Saucy Brew Works was judged according to the BJCP 2021 style guidelines under category 1A (American Light Lager).

This beer looks like your average macro lager: pale straw in color and crystal-clear with a white head that fizzes away despite lots of little bubbles. Even at the aroma, it begins to separate itself from the macros. It’s malt-forward with a moderately light grainy malt along with some sweet adjunct-y (rice?) notes. At the backend there are light grassy, spicy, flowery hop notes, that are noble-esque.

It’s mostly clean yeast, but there are some faint apple esters. The flavor is similar, but carries a bit more sweetness and more adjunct. The low bitterness and mild herbal hops allow the malt to stand out. It is still restrained and flirts the line between light and standard American lager. It’s light and refreshing, crisp, clean and thirst-quenching.

For a style meant to be imbibed in a frosty mug, it is not a surprise that it is more pleasant while it’s colder, as a bit more of the bitterness, rice, and green apple (acetaldehyde) starts to creep in as it warms up. This is a great example of the style that you could toss back a bunch of on any given Sunday.

Brewer’s Description

Undisputed is a super light lager crafted in collaboration with Coach Urban Meyer in honor of the 10-Year Anniversary of Ohio State’s National Championship season. It’s crisp and effervescent with a clean lightly malty finish, subtle herbal hop character from the Czech Saaz.
