Monday Night Brewing Brewmaster Peter Kiley Talks Darker Subject Matter

We spoke with Monday Night Brewing Brewmaster Peter Kiley about Darker Subject Matter.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
I’ll go ahead and take credit for this one. We created Dark Subject Matter several months ago, which of course is the base for this beer. It was such a thick, heavy stout, it was a no-brainer to age it in bourbon barrels.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
I really enjoy how the bourbon barrel influences the rich, full-bodied flavors of this beer. It’s adjunct-free, so you absolutely get a chance to taste it.

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
Absolutely not, unless that island is extremely cold. It’s a beer that’s meant to be sipped and enjoyed slowly, that’s for sure.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Decadent, Delicious, Dangerous, Dark.

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Any chocolate dessert will do just fine. I prefer chocolate mousse, but that's only because I pretend to be fancy.
