Red Brick wins Gold at European Beer Star

The European Beer Star Awards, hosted by Private Brauereien Bayern, awarded Laughing Skull Amber Ale, brewed by Red Brick Brewing Co., with a gold medal in the English-Style Bitter category.

Garett Lockhart, Red Brick’s President and Brewmaster commented, “This gold medal is a testament to the hard working team at Atlanta Brewing Company, who take great pride in their commitment to deliver an exceptional craft beer experience to our consumers around the globe.  We’re extremely honored that the European Beer Star judges recognize the quality of our beer.  We are doubly excited that this gold medal comes at the same time we launched distribution in Germany.  We believe this medal brings a level of credibility, and that German beer consumers, who are accustomed to beers of excellent quality, can also trust in the quality of our brand.”

The European Beer Star Awards is considered by the international brewing community to be one of the most prestigious and challenging competitions in the world.  "This year it has been more difficult than ever to win a medal in the European Beer Star," says Oliver Dawid, CEO of Private Brauereien Bayern, which has been organizing this competition since 2003.  This year’s competition comprised of 2,103 beers across 44 countries, judged by 124 certified, international beer experts from 30 countries.  Breweries around the globe are recognized for their commitment to the art of brewing authentic, distinctive beers of an impressive taste and quality.

Red Brick Brewing Company is no stranger to the international arena, as Georgia’s first craft brewery to export, Red Brick has learned a lot after their first international order in July 2013.  Since then, they have seen export business grow rapidly, with overseas distribution currently covering 6 countries (Italy, Germany, France, South Korea, China and Panama).  Red Brick also received a medal in 2015 at the renowned Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA), and participated in several international beer events sponsored by the Brewers Association.  In 2015, Governor Nathan Deal and Georgia’s Department of Economic Development presented Red Brick with a “GLOBE” award in recognition of Georgia based companies entering new international markets.

Lockhart praises the support of groups who helped get their export channels started. “Craft beer is a global phenomenon.  We are on a mission to share an exceptional craft beer experience with the world.  We also want to pay tribute to several organizations who’ve supported our export growth along the way, like the Brewers Association’s Export Development Program, Georgia’s Department of Economic Development, the Southeastern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), the U.S. Export Assistance Center, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, EXIM Bank, and the numerous trade representatives based out of U.S. Embassies in countries where our beer is sold.  I can’t imagine that we would have been able to grow overseas as fast as we have without their support”.

Way to go guys. Proud of these guys, big time on the world market. They've been in the game a long time, I remember the first time I had one back in the early 90's. Living in St Augustine now, I hope I can find Laughing Skull down here. Cheers guys, you rock!
