Klieg Kölsch by Arches Brewing is being evaluated as a Kölsch (category 5B in the 2021 BJCP Beer Style Guidelines). The Kölsch style is a German ale that has a delicate balance of malt, hops and esters.
Klieg pours golden in color with excellent clarity and a small white head. The aroma is delicate with a light pils malt complemented by a light floral hop and a hint of berry-like ester. The flavor has a similar profile as the aroma. The beer finishes lightly bittered with a light pils malt lingering over a dry, crisp finish and a hint of hops.
Klieg is a solid Kölsch. This exceptional beer has an excellent, delicate balance between the malt, hops and esters. The finish is dry and crisp. This beer is extremely quaffable.
