Macadocious Maibock by Denizens Brewing Co. was evaluated as category 4C, Helles Bock, per the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines after being poured from a 12-ounce can into a 16-ounce bock glass.

A very light pilsner malt bouquet with a touch of breadiness was cleanly present in the aroma. The beer was brilliantly clear with an amber hue that supported a medium white head.

The flavor was accented with layers of pilsner, Munich, and Vienna-like malt character that came through in a pleasant manner, although pilsner seemed to be the dominant malt and may have benefited from somewhat higher levels of specialty malt. Noble hops balanced the maltiness and prevented any cloying sweetness.

Medium- to full-bodied and very smooth, it finishes slightly dry with an alcoholic warming that pleases.

It is hard to find a good Maibock not originating in Germany. This effort was well conceived and represented the style nicely.
