Weekender by Zelus Beer Co. was judged as Category 4A, Munich Helles.
This beer is crystal clear and golden-colored with a tall, fluffy, white head. Bready, crackery malt aromas dominate the aroma, which overall is mild and pleasant. There is a low, spicy hop aroma in the background. Pils malt character continues into the flavor, which is a hallmark of the style. The flavor is richly malty and has a toasted character. Bitterness is moderate but only supports the full malt flavor. A low, noble-type hop flavor starts to come out as the beer warms. This beer has a substantial, medium-full body. Weekender is a true-to-style Munich Helles that adds an enjoyable toasted quality to the typical pils malt flavors.
