Country Boy Brewing Ventures Into Distillation
Country Boy Brewing is broadening its horizons beyond craft beer with a new distilling project that will add homegrown spirits and a visitor experience to Scott County. The project is a first for both the company and the region which has not had a production distillery since the end of Prohibition. With construction well underway, the Kentucky brewery is looking forward to the completion of the facility for vodka, gin and apple brandy production later this year.
A press release from Country Boy Brewing revealed that the new distillery – to be called Country Boy Distilling – is set for opening this fall.
The distillery will be in a renovated 1,300 square foot facility in Sadieville, KY. The location previously housed Hi-View Meats & Groceries, a long-time and popular butcher in northern Scott County located at 6325 Cincinnati Road.
“This place is close to my heart, I grew up stopping there every week,” said Daniel “DH” Harrison, Founder and Brand Manager at Country Boy Brewing. “Being able to plant our distillation roots in Sadieville means a lot to the family that is Country Boy Brewing.”
The new space will be the first production distillery in Scott County, Kentucky since the repeal of Prohibition. It will offer a visitor experience to see the distillation process, a small bar to taste signature cocktails and sip on some Country Boy beer.
“We are excited to offer tours of our small distillery to locals and tourists alike,” said Pete Weiss, Marketing Director for Country Boy Brewing. “The small tasting room on site will offer a unique experience for first time guests as well as long time Country Boy fans.”
“We worked with Vendome to create a custom 100 gallon still,” said Tyler Gomez, Director of Distillation for Country Boy Brewing. “This has been two years in the making, and we are all really excited to see that first batch in the bottle.”
Country Boy Distilling plans on being members of the Kentucky Distillers Association with high hopes of garnering a legendary placement on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The new distillery and visitor experience will share construction updates on social media at @countryboydistilling. To learn more, visit www.countryboybrewing.com.
