Dad Strength Juicy IPA is being judged as a Category 29 Fruit Beer with Category 21A American IPA at session strength as the base beer. This flavorful treat is a solid offering by this brewery who specializes in extremely sessionable versions of traditional beer styles. The fruit used in this offering is apricot.
The aroma has a combination of tropical melon/canteloupe dank hop character married with very evident apricot notes. A touch of general ester and fruitiness are behind this. No real base malt character is noted, which is not surprising considering how small this beer is.
The color is amber gold with exceptional clarity, sporting a solid rocky white medium-size bubble head that dissipates rather quickly considering the initial size of the head. The flavor follows the aroma very well, with very evident apricot flavors along with dank tropical hop flavors. There is a light grainy base malt character in the background. These characters linger through the finish and aftertaste.
Overall the fermentation seems quite clean with no off-flavors. There is quite a bit of carbonation bite in this one which delivers a quite dry finish. The body is very thin, as expected. The lack of alcohol character helps accentuate the thinness of the body.
Dad Strength Juicy IPA is a refreshing, flavorful small seasonable IPA that is extremely quaffable and satisfying in ways outside of the characteristics that the presence of alcohol usually delivers. Definitely search it out if you are on the hunt for an overall enjoyable low alcohol brew. Cheers and Enjoy!
