Theakston Brewery Launches New Special Reserve Ale: A Classic British Brew
Theakston Brewery is expanding its range with Special Reserve, a new ale set to reach supermarket shelves across the UK. Brewed in Masham with fresh Fuggle hops, the beer offers a full-bodied taste with subtle fruity notes. The launch adds to the family-run brewery’s growing presence in the retail market.
Theakston’s Special Reserve is making its debut with a national listing in Morrisons in October, according to a press release from the brewery.
The beer has an ABV value of 6.5%, making it the strongest ale in Theakstons’ range.
Offered in 500ml bottles, the beer will be available in the off-trade, with Waitrose also to be listing the new product in November. Special Reserve is an ideal accompaniment to strong flavoured foods, such as strong cheeses like Blue Wensleydale.
Simon Theakston, chairman of T&R Theakston, said: “As a brewery with almost 200 years of experience crafting legendary beers, we pride ourselves on staying true to our heritage while creating beers that people want to drink. Modern consumers are returning to classic styles of British ale ones which match their higher ABV value with distinctive rich and smooth flavour profiles, and so it felt the right time to create something unique for our off-trade customers with Special Reserve, a drink that celebrates both the high quality ingredients we use and the skills of our brewers in every sip.”
Special Reserve is just the latest new product from Theakston’s brewery to capture retailer attention with the independent family-run brewery growing listings earlier this year for its iconic Old Peculier, it’s alcohol-free counterpart Nowt Peculier and it’s Salted Caramel Porter.
