Who Will Rule Valorant Champions 2026 in Shanghai?

The event’s most important part of the competitive season and the goal every professional roster dreams of achieving is none other than the event called Valorant Champions. Winning it does more than win another Trophy. It takes a team to a part of Riot Games’ tactical shooter history.

The 16-team field was cut in half to field 8 teams for the Shanghai playoffs. The double-elimination bracket has been underway, and the focus has turned to something tougher to do now: keep the form going to claim the title.

Why Valorant Champions Remains Hard to Predict

Since 2021, Valorant has already garnered a new Champion each year. Develops reaction to agent, map, and opponent tendencies and develops mechanical skills and map preparation. When there’s a game that a strong lineup won’t do as well, it can make for a poor card game.

That unpredictability is part of what makes Champions so closely followed by fans, analysts, and esports bettors. Operators such as slotoro bet include Valorant among their esports markets, allowing users to follow available match odds alongside other competitive titles. Those odds show how teams are rated at a given moment, but tactical adjustments, individual form, and a few decisive rounds can quickly change a series.

What Past Valorant Champions Reveal

The event history illustrates the rapid shifts that can take place between competitors. Regional dominance teams can dazzle on their day of glory, but lose at the international level; meanwhile, teams that lack star power can shine on the big day at Champions.

No organization has won Champions twice so far. Strong regional results or a successful Masters event do not automatically translate into a world title. Leviatán demonstrated that in 2026 by winning Masters London but failing to qualify for Champions Shanghai.

The Leading Valorant Champions 2026 Contenders

Several teams entered the playoffs with especially strong cases. Performances at events such as Champions Shanghai, alongside recent international results. The way they play in the group stages, the shape they play in, and how they’re held under pressure will separate the top contenders.

NRG, the defending world champion, led Group D and started the playoffs 2,0 up in their first-round opener against T1. If NRG takes home a second, it will be the first group to be the Champions twice.

Paper Rex: The Pacific side is the squad coming into Toronto with a wealth of international experience to show, including a Champions final appearance.

They have won Americas Stage 2 and are the Group A winners without losing a series, called 100 Thieves.

They performed under big pressure when they won their Masters Santiago game in early 2026 against Nongshim RedForce.

Finalists attribution is not guaranteed, but these teams are new to being given a serious chance due to recent form/experience.

Americas Holds Half of the Playoff Field

Americas sent four teams into the Shanghai playoffs: NRG, 100 Thieves, LOUD, and G2 Esports. No other region matched that representation.

LOUD won Champions in 2022, Evil Geniuses followed in 2023, and NRG became champion in 2025. These achievements have shaped the competitive history of several leading Valorant teams, with NRG and LOUD also having the opportunity to become the first organization to win the tournament twice.

Pacific Has Three Chances to Break Through

While Pacific is yet to find its first Champions trophy, it has a fine history against top opponents.

Paper Rex made it all the way to Champions in 2023 and captured Masters Toronto in 2025. In 2025, it was T1 who won the Masters Bangkok, and in 2026, it was Nongshim RedForce who won Masters Santiago.

All three made the playoffs in Shanghai. T1 has already lost to NRG (2-0), but is still in the tournament.

Team Vitality Carries EMEA’s Remaining Hopes

Team Vitality was the only EMEA team to survive the group stage after Karmine Corp, Team Liquid, and FUT Esports were eliminated. Vitality topped Group B and beat LOUD 2,0. For fans following the competition, the first rule of assessing tournament performance is to look beyond individual victories and consider the consistency teams demonstrate throughout the event. EMEA also reached the Champions final in the previous two editions through Team Heretics in 2024 and Fnatic in 2025.

China Exits Champions on Home Soil

TYLOO, JD Gaming, EDward Gaming and XLG Esports swept into Shanghai; however, none of them went on to the playoffs. That was the first time in the tournament’s history that Team Heretics failed to become champions, contrasting their fortunes with those of EDward Gaming, who won the Chinese title in 2024. As such, the 2026 trophy will be awarded to Americas, Pacific, or EMEA.

Reading Valorant Champions Odds During the Playoffs

Betting markets can offer visibility into teams’ ratings throughout the duration of the tournament. Prices can change after a strong showing, difficult matchups, major news releases about the team, or an unexpected loss.

Those kicks don’t necessarily mean one team is winning/drawing/losing. It will generate close maps as well as upsets frequently,y and a round or two can be the turning point of the whole series. Major events, including an open championship, if such an event were to happen again, could draw even more attention, but there’s still no telling. Ultimately, for those who decide to invest, wagering or gambling with a fixed entertainment budget or setting reasonable limits is more important than the short-term movement of the markets. Having a handle on having fun is easier when you don’t have to devote your money exclusively to video games. Contentment with entertainment also makes it simpler to enjoy other passions, whether it be following competitive play or discovering craft beer varieties without going broke.
