Tres Barbas by Red Clay Brewing Co. is a Mexican Lager and was judged as an International Pale Lager (BJCP sub-style 2A). It poured clear and light golden into the glass, forming a thin white head with modest retention. Its light aroma had a predominantly grainy/malty character with late light hop bitterness, consistent with style. The flavor profile resembled the aroma, simple but refreshingly malt-forward with some corn notes late and hops to bitter only. Overall this beer is more versatile than exceptional, with high drinkability for a range of beer drinkers especially in the warmer months. It is crisp, clean and pleasantly refreshing, and would pair well with a wide variety of foods.
