Strawberry Boom Juicy IPA

Strawberry Boom Juicy IPA by Garage Brewing Co. as a BJCP2015 29A Fruit Beer with the underlying style of 21B Specialty IPA / New England IPA. The beer poured a very hazy light gold with a slight garnet reddish tint and a large poofy head of beige small and medium bubbles that quickly dissipates. Fruity notes dominate the aroma with candied strawberry prominent, as well as a fairly big honeydew melon hop. Initially, the taste is a big candied strawberry also with medium notes of overripe guava. Sweet tropical fruit (papaya, guava and mango) linger into a grassy hop and strawberry finish. Medium-low bittering doesn’t quite balance the sweet character. Medium body and medium carbonation provide a pleasant mouth-filling character. Overall a bit on the sweet side, possibly with some added lactose – or just very fruity. Good fruit expression and good juicy hop notes. Good beer for a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream, or make a smoothie with it.
