Tank Dog Tangerine Mango Imperial IPA by New Realm Brewing is being evaluated as a Fruit Beer (Category 29A) from the 2021 BJCP Style guidelines.
This beer starts with moderate juicy aromas of mango and citrus, followed by a circus peanuts and bubblegum finish. Many fruity esters were present in the aroma, as well as a little biscuit from the malt.
Poured into a small nonic glass, this beer showcased a hazy appearance and a white head with average persistence. Lots of tiny bubbles can be seen and heard, indicating a high level of carbonation.
The flavor profile of this fruited IPA is extremely juicy. It’s hard to imagine that I’m drinking a beer, given how loaded with fresh fruit flavors it is. The lush fruitiness is balanced by the soft bitterness that lingers and lingers, while the finish is long and dry.
Medium full-bodied with medium-high carbonation and no alcohol warmth detected makes this a dangerous beer given its high ABV; one that will require responsibility.
Overall, this is an extremely well-made IPA, and the added fruit experience is like nothing this beer judge has had in the past. The sheer juiciness is astounding.
