New Realm Brewing Co-Founder and Brewmaster Mitch Steele Talks Tiki Like a Fox
92 Rating - Exceptional
We spoke with New Realm Brewing Co-Founder and Brewmaster Mitch Steele about Tiki Like a Fox.
Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
This one was mine. The idea to focus on a Tiki-inspired beer came from one of our brewers in Atlanta.
What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
The Mai Tai aspects of the aroma and flavor, which make this beer unique, but still keep it firmly in the camp of our Hazy Like A Fox beer.
Where does this beer’s name come from?
From the flavors in the beer. Lots of brewers are fans of Tiki bars and drinks.
Is this your “desert island beer?”
I don’t have a “desert island beer;” I like too many beers. That said, I do enjoy Tiki Like A Fox quite frequently.
Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Smooth, hazy IPA with Mai Tai elements: coconut and orange.
Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
Just that it was really cool when we were brainstorming ideas for a fruited brand extension of Hazy Like A Fox IPA, that one of brewers suggested Tiki, and the whole concept of the beer took off from there.
What’s a good food pairing for this beer?
Any pub food is good but particularly seafood, Asian-inspired entrees and lighter fare, like salads.
